Security Tips

How can I tell if my internet connection is secure?
Before we request any Credit Card details, our system switches to a secure connection, which means that every request you send is encrypted (scrambled and encoded) using a certificate from a legitimate security authority. This is usually indicated by a padlock at the bottom of your browser.

If the padlock is in the locked position, your connection is secure. If the padlock is in the open position, your connection is not secure. By double clicking on the secure padlock, you can also get information about a site's security certificate.
PS: Look out for the locked padlock (as indicated by the picture) when you enter your credit card information on our secure site!

Friends of the flatbrain always look out for a small locked padlock to verify a secure connection.
What is Spoofing?
Spoofing is when a fraudster creates a website that looks like a genuine website, like the FlatBrain website, and also has a similar website address (URL). They then commit online fraud by urging people to transact on this fake website (e.g. deposit money, purchase goods etc.)

Our official website address is http://www.flatbrain.com, and no one can fake that address.
What is Phishing?
It is the act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft.
The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, and bank account numbers that the legitimate organization already has.

We will never ask for your username, password or credit card details via email and our legitimate email address will be in the form of verb@flatbrain.com
If you think you have received a fraudulent email, please forward the email to fraud@flatbrain.com and delete the email and all attachments.
